At least annually the Cheyenne Housing Authority (CHA) will conduct a reexamination of a participants income and circumstances. The result of the reexamination determines (1) the rent the participant will pay, and (2) whether the family subsidy is correct based on the family unit size.

The CHA will send a notification letter to the family letting them know that it is time for their annual reexamination and the deadline by which the resident must fully comply with the requirements of the recertification process. The participant must pick up forms from the CHA office, or the office of your local intake agent. The CHA may send forms to the participant upon their request. It is important that the participant take an active role in ensuring that the appropriate forms are obtained. The letter informs participants who may need to make alternate arrangements due to a disability that they may contact staff to request an accommodation of their needs.

During the recertification process, the participant will provide all information regarding income, assets, expenses, and other information necessary to determine the participant’s share of rent. The participant will sign the HUD consent form and any other consent forms necessary. You may print some recertification forms from our Forms and Documents Page.

Upon receipt of verification, the CHA will determine the participant’s annual income and will calculate the participant’s share of rent.
